Red Velvet and Absinthe

The new anthology from Mitzi Szereto, author of the controversial and much talked-about novel Pride and Prejudice: Hidden Lusts!

Lie back and relax and listen to the wind howling outside your window as you read these stories in the flickering light of a candle, the absinthe you’re sipping warming your body like the caressing touch of a lover’s fingers…

The supernatural - it has always evoked excited shivers, both fearful and sexual. Red Velvet and Absinthe offers readers a collection of unique and original stories that conjure up the atmospheric and romantic spirit of the Gothic masters and mistresses, but takes things further by adding a generous dosage of eroticism to the brew. Full of paranormal thrills and chills, this is the ultimate erotic romance! Red Velvet and Absinthe features an international cast of writers, including a special foreword from bestselling author Kelley Armstrong.

Love and Other Impossible Pursuits

A thought provoking and moving look at he way relationships are affected by the loss of an infant, divorce and remarriage.  Natalie Portman plays a woman deeply affected by the loss of her 3 day old infant and how she comes to terms with that loss.  She is also finding it challenging with her new husband's former wife still in the picture (played by Lisa Kudrow) influencing everyday life and hampering her attempts to bond with her new step-son.

There are some heart-warming moments within the film as she makes attempts to move on from the grief and put her life back on track but as with real life - various obstacles are thrown in the way and her own resistance to let go of the grief manifests itself as anger with some and coldness with others.

Not a light hearted movie by any stretch of the imagination but you almost feel you are a fly on the wall - watching her fall apart and rebuild the way she feels about life, relationships and finally find hope and closure.  A reflective film that could make some teary eyes in the audience depending on your own experiences of the issues raised.
