Restaurant Review - Little Dudley House, Dorking, Surrey Hills

Little Dudley House

As much as I love the city, it's always great to venture into the countryside for an evening. And whereas Little Dudley House is a bit further than I am usually willing to travel just for dinner, the location, service and ambiance were certainly worth it.

Perfectly nestled in the rolling Surrey Hills just shy of Dorking town centre, it is a perfect location - certainly in the suburbs but not isolated enough you feel cut off from civilisation. And very easy to find.

Neuro Drinks - Just 37 Calories per bottle PDF Print E-mail

Neuro Drinks, Neuro Bliss, Neuro Sonic, Neuro Trim, Neuro Sport

The first completely functional drinks brand to hit UK shelves following great success in the States, and which are enjoying a loyal celebrity following by the likes of Sharon and Kelly Osbourne, Elton John, Tamara Mellon, Cindy Crawford, Kate Hudson, Paris Hilton, Hayden Panettiere and many others.

I was given the opportunity to sample the full range and I must say, they are very delicious.  The Sporty one is sweet without being loaded with glucose syrup (like others in its market) the Bliss is relaxing and calming (it contains chamomile!) and Sonic has caffeine for an extra kick if you don't want to drink coffee.  Trim tasted nice - but didn't have the longer term overview as to whether it would make a difference on my waistline!  Although 37 calories is more than acceptable for the entire bottle and miles better for you than the nutritionally void diet fizzy drinks on the market.

Cocktails at the Scotsman Edinburgh

Ali McCulloch reports on The Scotsman hotel’s new menu

If you’re thinking of taking in some culture and comedy this August at Edinburgh’s famous Festival, it might be worth treating yourself to a night at the glamorous Scotsman hotel.  Selflessly, I popped in to check on how the new chef, Spencer Wilson, formally of Petrus, is getting on in the former home of The Scotsman newspaper.

Refresh Yourself with Organic Frozen Yoghurt at FRAE

FRAE - Islington and Notting Hill Frozen Yoghurt

I was introduced to natural yogurt as a child; daughter to a health conscious mother who incubated glasses of home made milky stuff then tried to smuggle it into our meals at any cost. I was too young to understand the digestion and calcium benefits of natural yogurt. Besides, it didn’t taste that good.

Sparklers

Cava Rose from £4.99 (Somerfield)  You don’t need to celebrate an occasion to enjoy some bubbly. This sparkling bargain is a fun and frivolous.  The taste is refreshingly fruity with subtle hints of redcurrants.
Codorniu Pinot Noir Rose from £7.99 (Majestic)  Produced from the famous Pinot Noir grape. The nose has a ripe summer fruits feel. There are an abundance of flavours from raspberries and strawberries that pop on the  palette. The delicate fizz is refreshing and
lively with a zesty citrus finish.

Codorniu Reserva Raventos from £7.99 (Majestic, Oddbins)  A great price for a high quality, elegant cava.  Honouring 125 years of Cava making this bright pale straw yellow colour has an interesting fruity nose and finish. Fantastic with tapas or salmon fritters.
