Tocca Florence

My fragrance review for August is the juicy and sparkling Florence EDP by Tocca.  A superbly crisp pear introduction followed through into delicate florals makes this a sublime perfume for summer or even into Autumn.

It's depth and projection makes it ideal for balmy summer nights - the fresh juiciness of the pear cuts through the humidity and the floral heart notes are left as your evening progresses - a little dancing, a walk on the beach or relaxing in a cabana - this fragrance can handle anything.

As summer gives way to rainy autumn days - you are reminded of the warmth of summer as the fragrance lingers on the skin with the tender base notes of musk.

Gets 3.75/5 stars from me - I love it, the depth and projection of the florals - the opening burst of the pears, it is delicious and much more complex that another major brand with a big fruity opening (apples!)  I just wish it lasted all day - but that is fairly rare in modern perfumes so I would be happy to have this in my regular rotation of fragrances.

Florence Notes
Citrus Bergamot, Drenched Green Pear, Apple, Ivory Gardenia, Jasmine Petals, Tuberose, Iris, White Musk, Spiced Woods.

£49.50 from QVC

Scale of star ratings;

1-2 - Average fragrance, pleasant enough to wear but there are better examples for you to spend your money on.

2-3 - Above average, usually has a few flaws like lack of longevity, poor base notes but has something enjoyable about it.  Try Britney's Curious

3-4 - Definitely worth trying, either for its unusual notes, complexity or charm.  Versatile fragrance - could a perfect office scent or weekend choice.  Prada L'Eau Ambre, Tocca's Florence, Dolce Vita,

4-4.75 - An outstanding fragrance, either a modern classic or an outstanding niche that could be referred to as a "signature scent" Usually a warm, charming and long-lasting sillage (how long it lasts) and makes women feel amazing.  My examples are J'Adore, Coco Mademoiselle, Black Orchid, Angel

5 - One of the best fragances ever made.  Rare to give out but there are a few examples!  Coco, Chanel No5, Shalimar, Carnal Flower,

Ombre Rose EDT

Ombre Rose by Jean-Charles Brosseau (This review is for the Eau De Toilette)

A power-house of a rose fragrance, the Ombre Rose range (Eau De Toilette & Parfum) has an interesting opening sharpness of zing which hits your nostrils first to freshen them up - but then quickly dissapates into the floral heart of rose, ably accompanied by lily of the valley, ylang-ylang and peach.

Finally, what you are left with is a deep, rich and powdery rose scent which is unmistakably feminine.  Orris, musk, rosewood AND sandalwood make up the base notes - along with notes of honey and courmarin.

There is an immense amount of sillage in the Eau De Toilette - mine lasted a solid 4-5 hours.  In the current clilmate of weak, watery aquatics this has unbelievable staying power.  With the parfum, a few dabs behind the ear would more than suffice and you can layer the fragrance with the body lotion, foaming gel, perfumed body cream and perfumed body powder.

An elegant, feminine fragrance for those that enjoy rose fragrances - either in the EDT or pure parfum form.

Fleur Cherie - L'Occitane

I really liked this fragrance, although it is only an eau de toilette it packs a powerful sillage and I found it lasted right from shower to lunchtime without losing any of the juicy orange blossom notes.  It's a fresh and sparkling fragrance to wear - especially in these dark winter months when you really do want to just close your eyes and pretend you are relaxing in Portofino!
