On 15 September 2011 Avon, the global beauty giant, will celebrate its 125th anniversary. The world’s leading direct beauty seller has made a huge global impact, with 6.5 million Independent Avon Representatives in over 100 countries. Today the organisations selling power is staggering, with four Avon lipsticks and two Avon mascaras being sold every second somewhere across the globe.
Avon, the company for women Back in 1886 a forward thinking David H. McConnell unleashed a revolutionary idea by creating the California Perfume Company. A pioneering business that he soon rebranded Avon, following a trip to the beautiful town of Stratford-Upon-Avon. With his flexible door-to-door sales model he offered women the opportunity of financial independence before they were entitled to vote.
