The Best Of Emma Willis’s Debut Collection: Beautiful Basics, And More

By  |  0 Comments

Presenter Emma Willis’s chic style is frequently complimented. As a familiar face (Big Brother, The Voice) and popular TV personality, her sharp trouser suits and beautifully tailored dresses have caught public attention on and offscreen for being classy yet feminine.

Now, in the absence of Big Brother kicking off her year, she’s gone a step further and designed her debut clothing range (for Next).

We pick out our favourite pieces from the collection, created for Spring/Summer 2019, as Emma talks through her thoughts on this new facet to her career.

Emma’s experience of the new challenge

“Designing clothes? I never thought I would ever do anything like that!”

Emma has always loved trying new things; she likes to be scared but “in a good way”; being a fashion designer wasn’t something she had foreseen in her life, or even had much experience in. But working closely with her own stylist and the team at Next, the Emma Willis Collection was brought to online and selected stores earlier this month.

Being part of the design team (along with her stylist and the team at Next) meant that Emma could bring her own concepts to the table.

A mandatory element for Emma was designing clothes that women of all ages and body types will love – whether they enjoy baring their legs, flaunting their waist, or prefer a looser fit. Comfort is key – the connection between comfort in clothing and confidence isn’t lost on Emma.

“I’m hoping that everybody can and will wear the range. It’s quite classic in the way it looks”

Our favourites: beautiful basics and stylish classics

More than 30 separate pieces make up this gorgeous capsule collection. Most work well together, and separately are each designed to become a firm fixture – not “fast fashion”, but timeless classics which will always look stylish and will blend easily into a woman’s wider wardrobe.

“You can mix and match most of it and choose between wearing each piece as a set or an individual item,” explains Emma.

These beautiful wide-cut trousers are right on trend for 2019, but with a high waist and straight leg they’ll look great for years. Pair with a simple white camisole, or dress up with a jacket and heels.

The white suit (blazer and trousers) is typical of what is fast becoming the signature Emma Willis look – impeccable tailoring that blends masculine and feminine aesthetics. It’s full of possibilities for styling with denim, dark tops, dress shoes and bold coats.

The stand-out design feature is a stunning deep blue and palm print. This bikini with its high-waisted briefs (regular tie-side briefs are also available) will mix and match with the black bikini, and for the full look teams up with a loose shirt for the poolside.

The mixture of light tailoring, flattering swimwear and loose beach dresses provides a complete capsule wardrobe for a summer getaway, while many elegant pieces are suitable for the office during the warmer months.

The Emma Willis Collection is available online now, and in selected stores.
