By  |  0 Comments

Breast cancer affects more than one in eight women and there are more than 20 different types that we are aware of. Fifty thousand new cases diagnosed each year (400 male cases), meaning that half a million UK women live with it at any one time, and more than 1,000* will lose their fight with this devastating disease this month alone. Every hour one woman dies from breast cancer. The number of people getting breast cancer will increase by 20% in the next 15 years.

Here’s how you can help yourself combat the disease:

1) BRISK – With tips from breathrough.org.uk’s breast cancer research experts, find out how just 30 minutes of moderate physical exercise a day could reduce your risk of breast cancer by at least 20%.

2) You can do your bit (if you don’t already do this) by embracing breakthrough.org.uk’s TLC mantra – Touch, Look, Check – your breasts. Can you see or feel a lump? Has there been a change in size or shape e.g. discharge or change in the direction or appearance of a nipple? Discuss anything unusual with your doctor.
See www.breakthrough.org.uk/tlc for comprehensive information and a fun incentive for raising money for more research into this disease.
