The Spa which opened in 2000 forms part of a grade II listed complex designed by architect H Percy Monckton in the early 20th century. The Spa itself can be found in basement of the Chancery Court Hotel in Holborn, London which is on the Piccadilly and Central Lines and also easily accessible by many buses.
Valet and offsite parking is also available. On entering the Spa, subdued décor and low music transport visitors into a world where the pace of life slows to a crawl. You see and hear running water rushing down walls, floor pebbles which ‘track’ a path back to the reception, friendly staff. The effect on the psyche is quite surreal.
The Spa offers numerous Treatments and Experiences to promote the well being and maintenance of body, mind and spirit. All at prices to suit every pocket.
THE AYURVEDIC DISCOVERIES MENU
The Ayurvedic Discoveries Menu forms the newest range of treatments at the Spa. It is believed Ayurvedic therapies originated more than 4000 years ago in India. Simply put, Ayurveda is Sanskrit for ‘knowledge of life’.
This knowledge advocates holistic thinking to aid physical and emotional healing, thereby resulting in a balanced way of life. As part of the Ayurvedic Dosha Experience the Spa offers four 2 hour treatments – Peace, Tranquillity, Purity, Vitality and Serenity which is a deluxe 3 hour treatment. Prices range from £190 upwards.
Prior to treatment your consultant will assess your Dosha personality type (there are three) before recommending an appropriate Ayurvedic Experience for you. All sessions consists of both a foot and vigorous body massage using a selection of Tri Dosha oils. Our client from Simply Woman enjoyed the ‘Purity’ package which concluded with an all over body Ayurvedic scrub of dry herbs. After their sessions clients can take away a personalised lifestyle sheet as part of the Spa’s aftercare.
Other treatments available at the Spa include, body wraps, waxing, an extensive range of facials, reflexology and a session for mothers-to-be. Men and couples are catered for too. The Spa offers smaller ‘Add-on’ or ‘Grooming’ treatments such as filing head massage, eyebrow shaping, bikini or leg waxing which can be added on to any of the bigger packages. Overall the Spa boasts six single treatment rooms, a double treatment room and a finishing touches room for manicures. Adjoining the ladies’ lavish changing facilities are a wet steam room and dry heat sauna room.
Whilst waiting for your session why not try the unisex Relaxation room with its personal reading lamps, table laden with fruits and herbal teas, and seven ‘rackable’ beds alternately laid between circular columns? You’ll be delighted to know that clients can spend as long as they wish in the Relaxation room both before and after their treatment, bed space allowing.
