Date In A Dash – Dating Events With A Unique Twist

A time-poor singleton in London is rarely a happy bunny. So this summer, Simply Woman is trawling the length of the city to bring you solutions to the minefield that is modern dating. We recently discovered Date In A Dash (DIAD) who offer speed dating among other singles events. Most singletons are familiar with the concept of speed dating, for it is not new. Yet Date In A Dash have taken this ‘long in the tooth’ theme and injected fresh twists.

For a start their speed dating events last four minutes rather than the typical three. At their recent event at the House of Roxy, Putney, which we’d describe as a stylish low-key restaurant / bar, we found plenty of time to chat to prospective dates before and after the event. The event featured around 15 dates, mostly busy professionals who lacked resources to put themselves out there in the way they may have done in their youth. Focus and structure was the theme of the evening (contrast with the frenetic atmosphere of singles parties that can attract up to 300 people).

In addition to speed dating, DIAD run pub crawls, and comedy nights. Recently they added fitness events, think running and endurance activities – followed by the mandatory drink in a local bar afterwards! All DIAD events are UK wide and in central cities, so they’re easy for everybody to attend. DAID offer elite events for ‘highbrow’ professionals too. And their unique ‘Dating in the Dark’ experience means your remaining senses (the event room is unlit) need to scope out your ‘date’ to decide if you’d like to see them again. With ‘Dating in the Dark’ a DIAD assistant will fill in your date card for you. Typically DAID age groups for events are 24-36, 34-44, and 35-55 years. Singles parties are open to all ages.
