Merrell is celebrating thirty years of design excellence, performance and innovation by launching Origins, a collection shaped by the brand’s archive of leading outdoor styles. To mark the launch, Merrell has teamed up with London’s Dover Street Market where a limited edition of the brand’s original Wilderness Canyon boot will go on sale in November 2011.
The original 1982-styled Wilderness leather boot was voted Backpacker Magazine’s ‘Best boot in the world’ and has more recently been showcased alongside the finest tailored suit in DKNY’s catwalk show. The collaboration with Dover Street Market in London, alongside Pigalle and Colette in Paris, will see the three fashion retailers stock a select run of thirty pairs each of the iconic boot, each imprinted with tracking number and store stamped to seal its genuine originality and individuality.

Elsewhere in the new men’s range, Merrell has consulted with Japanese design counterparts to reinvent the iconic Eagle Origins lightweight hiking boot and Solo Origins shoe. The mix of colour hues, fabrication and style are a nod to the past while continuing on a spirited pursuit to develop products with a contemporary appeal.

The Origins range is every bit the product of Merrell’s brand heritage which can be traced back to 1981 where a custom cowboy boot maker by the name of Randy Merrell decided to expand with a shift into hiking boots. The high quality, custom-made boots were crafted one pair at a time, each carrying a six-month waiting period. Following the launch of the Merrell Boot Company, the brand has continued to deliver new, innovative footwear designs and technologies to a wider audience ever since.
