A new food supplement containing a ‘super-fibre’ that has been clinically proven to lower cholesterol and blood sugar levels and to help people gain control of their weight at the same time, has just hit the shelves at Boots stores nationwide.

Slim Sip®, a food supplement containing Glucomannan (a water- soluble type of fibre which forms a high-viscosity gel when hydrated), the only ingredient supported by the EFSA for claims on weight and cholesterol management, works by slowing down the absorption of sugar and cholesterol from the stomach and intestines, helping to control blood sugar levels, trap and eliminate fats and oils, and reduce cholesterol levels)

Naturally derived from the tuberous roots of the Konjac potato (Amorphophallus Konjac or Konjac mannan), the superior-quality Glucomannan contained in Slim Sip® absorbs water in the stomach and expands to 200 times its original size, which not only regulates cholesterol and blood sugar levels, but also helps to decrease the appetite by stimulating the stomach lining, which then ‘tricks’ the brain into thinking that the body is satiated.

A delicious effervescent orange flavour drink, regular consumption of Slim Sip® helps to maintain normal blood cholesterol concentrations, absorbs dietary fats and acids (these are then eliminated from the body and are not digested), and promotes healthy, long term weight loss by offering prolonged satiety, and encouraging smaller food portion sizes.

Clinically proven to aid weight loss and maintain or reduce cholesterol levels (including harmful LDL levels) by numerous clinical trials, health organisations and critical journals, including Alternaive Therapies Publication and the British Journal of Nutrition, Slim Sip® can help people to achieve sustainable weight loss when combined with regular exercise and sensible food choices.  In clinical trials, subjects (n=83) who received Glucomannan (E-425) 3 times per day, 1g each for 60 days (double-blind, placebo-controlled) reported significant weight reduction, body fat reduction, and fat mass reduction, all without a loss of fat-free mass or bone density. Results also showed total and LDL cholesterol reduction

In another study on female obese patients with no dietary restrictions (n=20) who received Glucomannan (E-425) 3 times/day, 1.0g each for 8 weeks (double- blind, placebo-controlled), showed body weight reduction (mean weight loss of 5.5Ibs), serum cholesterol reduction and LDL-cholesterol reduction. Patients felt full, and constipation improvement was observed.

Overall test subjects showed an average weight loss of 2.4 kg in 4 weeks, a reduction of 2.8 cm of waist diameter in 8 weeks, and a reduction of 20 per cent bad-cholesterol in 3 weeks.  Completely safe (proven by 14 pharmaceutical level safety studies including dose-response study, toxicity study and acute toxicity study), naturally derived, and well tolerated, Slim Sip® is also vegan friendly. The fibre mass (including the fats captured) passes through the stomach and the intestine, and is then gently eliminated by the body.

Slim Sip®’s, active ingredient Glucomannan, has been endorsed as a weight-loss break-through by nationally-known doctors such as Dr. Mehmet Oz (cardiothoracic surgeon, author, and television personality) and Dr. Mark Hyman (founder and medical director of the Ultra Wellness Center and a columnist for The Huffington Post), weight-loss clinics and many top nutritionists and registered dieticians.

Dr. Mehmet Oz has previously been quoted as saying: “Glucomannan works to fill you up so you won’t feel hungry. It comes from the Konjac plant, and I like to call it ‘nature’s get skinny sponge’ – that’s literally what it does, it’s a sponge will ‘suck up’ your hunger. Glucomannan is a super-special fibre; makes you feel full, but it doesn’t leave you gassy and bloated.”

Slim Sip® should be taken at least 30 minutes before each meal with water. Slim Sip® costs £19.99 for 30 sachets and will be available from Boots stores nationwide and from the 18th May 2014.
