How to Stick to Your New Year’s Resolutions

Setting New Year’s resolutions is something many people do as they head into a fresh year with new goals. While it’s relatively easy to set these resolutions, it’s not so easy to stick with them. If you’re currently a student studying for your MBA degree online, then you are likely busy and feeling as though you are being pulled in many directions. So how can you possibly set those resolutions and stick with them? Not to worry we’ve got some tips that may help you out.

Create Realistic Resolutions

One of the best ways to make sure you’re able to stick with your resolutions is to pick ones that are realistic. These are resolutions that you know are possible and also make sense in your life right now. Maybe you want to try a new sport for instance. Well it’s not realistic to assume you will become an expert in it this year, instead just make a manageable goal and stick with it.

Get Your Resolutions Out There

Another tip that helps people stick to their goals is to verbalize them. Instead of keeping all your resolutions in your head, you want to get them out there. Write them down, create a vision board, tell your friends about your resolutions, basically get them out there in the world. This will help to motivate you, keep you on track, and your friends and family can offer much needed support along the way.

Make Specific Health Goals

Everyone sets goals like “lose weight” or “gain muscle” for their health resolutions, but the reason they give up by the 20th of January is because their goals weren’t specific enough. Instead, set a goal like “lose 5 pounds by February” or “eat 25g of protein per day for the next 100 days”. You may even have other areas of your health you want to focus on, like your skin health or your sexual health. If you struggle with spots, for example, set yourself the goal “drink a glass of lemon water by 9am each day”. If you struggle with erectile dysfunction, meanwhile, it can be an embarrassing topic that you’d rather avoid. Set yourself an easy goal like “visit an ED Clinic Anaheim (or elsewhere) by the end of the month”. Once you’ve done this, you’ll feel a sense of accomplishment and be ready to move on to the next goal.

Start Out Small

This goes hand-in-hand with the realistic resolutions. There’s nothing wrong with having a big goal in mind, but you need to start out small. For many people, weight loss is a New Year’s resolution. Rather than tell yourself you want to lose 50lbs, which seems like a huge undertaking, set small goals instead. For instance, your resolution could be to lose 10lbs by the end of winter. As you reach each of your small goals you will feel such satisfaction and so much confidence, it will help to motivate you to continue on.

Go Easy On Yourself

Even when you have the best intentions and you’re following all the tips, there are bound to be those moments/days when you slip up. Rather than beat yourself up about it and give up on your resolution, it’s better to just forgive yourself and then move on. Start the resolution fresh the next day, and keep moving forward. It’s always easier to give up then to keep going, so knowing it will be tough and there will be bad days is a healthy way of looking at it.

New Year’s resolutions give people a chance to start with a clean slate, a chance to set goals and tackle the New Year head on. Whether your resolutions have to do with your schooling and your MBA degree online, your personal health, fitness, or even working on relationships you have, it is possible to stick to them with a little work on your part.
