There’s something exciting happening in London all year round, however if you’re planning a trip to the English capital in 2016, you might want to plan it around one of the following.  All of these are sure to be crowd pleasers, so take a look and if you need tickets, make sure to book them in advance.

London Fashion Week; Feb 2016

The eyes of the fashion world focus on London for the weeklong event highlighting the best and the brightest British fashion has to offer. Ranging from British Burberry designs to smaller more niche designers, London Fashion Week is at the pinnacle of seeing what will be ‘in’ next season. With huge names, eye popping designs, glamourous parties and more champagne brunches than you could imagine, London Fashion week gives the visitor a more refined London experience. Whilst some may think it’s an event for the ladies, since 2012 the organisers have put on exclusive male shows; where men can see what their fashion future may hold.

London Marathon; 24th April 2016

For the more active souls out there, the London Marathon provides an insight into what London looks like when thousands line the street to cheer on a whole range of athletes; from elite, world class runners to those running in wacky fancy dress trying to raise some money for charity and have a laugh along the way! For those running it offers a whirlwind tour of all the sites and for people who want to support a family member or a friend it gives them a chance to be a part of the action.

Wimbledon; 27th June until 10th July 2016

The ultimate in London sporting events, the eyes of the sporting world will be fixating on London in July as the best tennis players in the world battle it out at one of the world’s largest and longest running sporting events. Full of action, tension and drama, Wimbledon can be enjoyed in the sun lounging on Henman Hill with a picnic and the big screen or sat by centre court with a customary glass of Pimms. Wimbledon gives visitors the chance to dress smart, watch top class sport and even lasts for two weeks, giving you plenty of time to enjoy!

Last Night of the Proms; 10th September 2016

As the cold starts to bite thousands descend on the legendary Hyde Park to listen to the BBC Orchestra playing away into the night ending with the traditional renditions of Jerusalem, Auld Lang Syne and God Save the Queen. The celebration of Britishness with flags waving and face painting gives ample opportunity to have a few glasses of wine in the park with friends! Those wanting to make a weekend could stay in one of the many holiday apartments in London like Carlton Court and attend Radio 2 Live in the same location the following evening.

New Year’s Eve 2016; 31st December 2016

Rounding out the year in fitting fashion is the opportunity to see a British institution, and one of the best things to do all year which won’t cost a penny. Seeing in the New Year to the rings of Big Ben, copious amounts of fizz, singing along with thousands of people and, of course, one of the most breath-taking firework displays anywhere on earth.
