The natural world is full of beauty and wonder. It also has restorative properties we often overlook in our busy lives. The benefits of a nature-filled home are numerous from improving our mood, fighting stress and helping us relax all the way to lowering blood pressure and preventing illness. 

In today’s fast-paced and technology-driven world, it can be challenging to incorporate nature into your home—especially if you live in an urban area or spend most of your time in a workplace setting. Fortunately, there are many ways that you can bring the outside in and vice versa.

1. Lighten up with natural lighting

Natural light is one of the best ways to incorporate nature into your home, especially if you live in an urban area where nature may not be as readily available. Natural light can help you to feel more positive and less stressed.

  • Install skylights in your home – Skylights are a highly effective way to bring in more natural light, and are especially helpful if you live in an area with limited natural light. If you have a skylight in your home and it’s not currently working, be sure to have it repaired. 
  • Hang up sheer curtains – Sheer curtains can help to allow more natural light into your home while still providing privacy. If you have an office space with ample natural light, sheer curtains are a great way to let the sun in while still blocking out the light when necessary.

2. Bring in plants – inside and out
