PAD London Arts Exhibition Brings Cultural Spirit To Mayfair

By  |  0 Comments

PAD London is an annual arts fair that takes place at the prestigious Berkeley Square venue in the heart of Mayfair, London. Spanning the artistic spectrum from contemporary, tribal, historic, decorative and antiquities to jewellery, glass and ceramics, PAD London has something for every culture buff. In the past, patrons have included design consultants, arts dealers, museum collectors and enthusiasts and this year, expects up to 25,000 eager visitors enjoying a stimulating, cultural experience.

This year’s exhibitors hail from Europe, Asia and the USA. Of the sixty eight galleries on display, twelve are new to PAD London, including newcomer Nicolas Bourriaud in area C12 of the fair, who is an arts dealer exhibiting in the existing sculpture category. Interestingly, the tribal arts exhibitors are from Europe and the USA as opposed to countries and continents that one may more readily associate with a tribal society, past or present.

What’s new
PAD London has this year placed women at heart of the fair. The ladies exhibiting include new dealer Anne Autergarden’s (Brussels) in area B5, whose expertise in early to late 20th century Italian-inspired furniture includes lighting, furniture and kinetic artefacts. She marries these seamlessly alongside design pieces from France, Belgium and the USA.

Keeping the focus on women, established dealer Béatrice Saint Laurent (Paris) in area B23, is particularly famed for her contemporary design commissions of art and design works that offer thought shifting and provocative expressions in space. She is also known for her post WWII vintage lighting exhibits. The featured image in this article shows her jade coffee table.
