Easter Drinks In A Flash
Easter season is here – a little earlier this year, so without further stop, here is a compact basket of drinks, including something for those abstaining from wine. All prices quoted are per bottle.
From Laithwaites Wine
*Kew Gardens Albillo 2024, Spain, abv 12.5%
This is a creamy, rounded white featuring Spain’s almost-forgotten Albillo grape. The nose offers a distinctly pear note with overtones of white blossom, while the palate delivers a mild citrus and nutty flavour. Enjoy with a creamy chicken or fish dinner. Priced at 12.49.
*Kew Gardens Crémant De Loire Rosé Brut 2024, France, abv 12.5%
A dry, sparkling, rosé blended from Cabernet Franc and the rarer Grolleau Gris grapes. The resulting wine tingles with a nose of fresh red petals and a citrus palate, balanced with creamy bubbles. All wrapped in a salmon hue. Enjoy with light fish dishes or drink on its own. RRP 18.99.
From Aldi
Ballycastle Limited Edition Mini Chocolate Eggs, England, abv 12.5%
This is a creamy liqueur with a mild toffee flavour. Fluid in the glass, its hue is similar to milky coffee. The nose does waft of chocolate and creme egg filling, so you may forgive the flavour, which is more akin to that other drink than anything else. Sweet, yet deceptively moreish and best drunk alone, or with ice. For the Easter break only. RRP £6.99 from your local supermarket.
Zerozecco, England, 0% abv
Again, we feature this delightful sparkling ‘wine’ that is completely alcohol free. Though fermented from grapes, the alcohol is removed and carbon dioxide added leaving a flavoursome tipple that you can consume at any time of the day. Easily pairs with white meat dishes. RRP 2.99.
*Extra – In collaborating with the Royal Botanic Gardens, a world-famous scientific and internationally respected organisation Laithwaites are able to feature wines made from grapes of lesser-known varieties. RBG is also celebrated for helping conserve and protect plants and for its outstanding plant collections.

Buy single or multi-egg boxes at all good supermarkets for a themed chocolate experience.
