Valentine Wines You’ll Want To Get Romantic With
Here’s a quick selection for you this Valentine weekend. It is still very cold weather wise – chillingly so, so if you are cosying in with your loved one over the next few days, you may want to accompany your meal with one or more of the drinks in our selection. Bubbles or still, they are chosen for presentation, flavour and romance, and any one of them could help you set the mood. There is also a reduced alcohol offering that should appeal to most palates.

Letoile Mouvèdre Rosé Chassaux et Fils, 2023, France, 12.5% abv

From Laithwaites
La Chica Bonita, 2023, Spain, 5.0% abv
A lively sparkling wine from Valencia, this is a sweetish wine overflowing with orange, white flower and honeysuckle blossoms to taste, topped off with white grapes. On the nose, we warm to mandarin and apricot. La Chica leaves a friendly, gentle mousse in the mouth. All from a low alcohol wine, achieved by removing yeast and stopping fermentation early. £5.00.
Spier Villa Blue Albariño Stellenbosch, 2023, Spain, 13.5% abv
From a Spanish grape that produces a full tasting, light gold wine with a nose of peach, melon and grapefruit all wrapped up in flint. Expect ripe stone fruit to follow on the sip, balanced by a mineral finish. Great with pasta dishes and light cheeses. RRP £12.99.
Please drink responsibly and in moderation. Happy Valentine’s Day Weekend.
