Floris – proud British perfumer

Heritage fragrance house Floris certainly deserves it’s accolades as a legendary fragrance house.  They made Queen Victoria’s fragrance for her wedding, as well as reforumulating that same fragrance to bring it bang up to date for the Queen’s Golden Jubilee.

Not only have their fragances stood the test of time, through Napoleonic and World wars but they have been able to maintain a niche within the current climate of big budget, big brand releases.  They don’t have to release a new fragrance every six months or have four or five flankers to each perfume – they stick to what they do best – timeless fragrances for men, women or both!

EDT – 50ml (£45) 100ml (£65)

Bouquet de la Reine – an absolutely charming fruity floral, reminiscent of Queen Victoria’s wedding bouquet.

JF – Citrusy top-notes of mandarin, bergamot, lemon & lime are harmonised with herby notes of coriander and clary sage before being followed by the heart notes of juniper berry, cypress and petitgrain.  You are then rewarded with an amber, cedarwood and mossy, musky base.  This is the kind of fragrance you enjoy smelling on your loved one as the bright citrusy notes stand out and the base develops into a charming amber/cedarwood warm blanket.  It’s terrific for snuggling up to!

Santal – Woody gents EDT but I would wear this as a unisex fragrance.  Peppercorns and nutmeg in the top notes, lavender in the heart and drying down to a cedarwood and frankincense base.

Fleur – Fresh floral, smells a little like petals afte a rainshower.  A gentle and subtle fragrance featuring waterlily, peach and melon top notes, gently transforming into a floraly heart of lily of the valley, jasmine, rose and ylang ylang.   As they fade away you are left with the subtle and gentle sandalwood and musk base notes.

Night Scented Jasmine – Indolic Jasmine powerhouse, as an EDT it’s a bit more subtle than an EDP would be of this one.
