Tesco Pear Cider, 5% abv, United Kingdom
For those favouring a lighter palate, this store brand cider is refreshingly ‘pearsome,’ with a slightly salty taste. Also available in standard apple variety. £2.20 for 4x 440ml cans.
Ramon Bilbao Rosado Rioja Spain, 12.6% abv
Created from a decade’s old ‘clarete’ style of Rioja rosados (rosé), head winemaker Rodolfo Bastida has today blended 85% Garnacha and 15% Viura grapes fermented in stainless steel caskets for a full, berry flavour. Dry on the palate, this wine pairs well with cheeses or a salad. £8.99 Tesco.
Mud House Chilean Rosé 2021, Chile, 12.5% abv
From a vintage when late rains produced grapes bursting with flavour, freshness, and vibrancy. The wine’s natural acidity is tempered during French oak fermentation, leaving an aromatic, floral nose. This is balanced with ripe strawberry and summer berries on the palate. Made with 85% Sauvignon Blanc, 12.5% local white varietals and 2.5% Pinot Noir. £9.99 Majestic Wines.
Kutjevo Rosé 2020 Vetovo, Croatia, 12% abv
This wine is a delightful blend of Pinot Noir and Zweigelt grapes. Delivers red berry fruit bursts, perfect for girly, sunny days. From a mountainside winery originating in the 13th Century, the high altitude ensures a fruity and dry harvest. £14.49 Laithwaites.

Tramonto Alpha Estate Greek Chardonnay 2018, Greece, 13.5% abv
Made from 100% Chardonnay grapes, we found this dry white bursting with floral overtones within a citrus cage. Well balanced, with minimum acidity. Aged on lees for 7 months for a fuller flavour. Warm finish. Goes nicely with white fish dishes. £14.99.
Specially Selected Sparkling Ribolla Gialla, Italy, 11.5% abv
A superbly delicious, 100% Ribolla Gialla grape wine with a light sparkle. The palate is similar to cava, with lemongrass, pear and honeysuckle overtones. Very easy to drink – note though that strong flavoured dishes will quickly overshadow this wine. £6.49.
Specially Selected Austrian Zweigelt 2021, 13% abv
This mediumweight red is made from 100% Zweigelt grapes, resulting in a palate somewhere between a soft Merlot and punchy Malbec. With notes of ripe cherry, berries and fruits of the forest. Long, dry finish. Pair with barbecued red meats. Also suitable for vegans. £6.99.
